One material – endless possibilities
Faber-Castell has a long history of wooden pencils – starting in 1761! It‘s in our roots, so to say. Thus, it was only natural to apply our expertise also to cosmetics pencils. Our first wooden eyebrow pencil was produced in 1890 – way before the official founding of Faber-Castell Cosmetics in 1978. Since then, we developed dozens of wooden pencil formats suitable for eyes, brows, lips, face and even nails. These pencils are true classics – time has not affected their natural look and feel, perfect sharpenability and high-performing textures, which are constantly being refined and brought to perfection.

Worldwide, we‘re known for manufacturing innovative and safe colour cosmetics embodying our belief that beauty and sustainability are symbiotic.
For this reason, we focus our efforts on creating solutions and products that are in line with environmental preservation and social responsibility. While our entire portfolio offers various solutions, it’s our wooden pencils that represent most formats. Faber-Castell Cosmetics is currently the only manufacturer to offer wooden cosmetics pencils made in Germany. What´s more, also providing products made from certified wood sourced from our own forests in Brazil.

Our forestry guidelines
No matter which product you choose, we do not only ensure the highest quality standards, but also materials used from responsible sources. Without exception, we use wood only from sustainably managed forests that are FSCTM or PEFC certified, ensuring the preservation of biological diversity and fair working conditions for local workers. Annual audits guarantee a high standard for ecologically, economically and socially sustainable material sourcing.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) is an international organization that works globally to promote environmentally responsible, socially acceptable and economically viable forest management. This requires parts of the forest to remain untouched and serve as a protected area. Sustainable forest design and management is therefore demanded. This is verified and confirmed for forest owners via the “Forest Management” certification program. In a further step, FSCTM requires a traceable value chain through the “FSCTM Chain of Custody” certification by certifying the processing companies, starting with the FSCTM forest up to the last production stage. To maintain a certified product, every company in the supply chain must be certified and comply with the relevant specifications and guidelines. Furthermore, certified companies must adhere to the employment and working conditions recommended by the International Labor Organization (ILO), which also covers the social aspect of certification (both for Forest Management and Chain of Custody).
PEFC
The “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification” is an international organization with the aim of documenting, improving and promoting sustainable forest management in accordance with economic, ecological and social standards. Forest management is also used here to regulate forest planning and cultivation. Similar to FSCTM, the standards set out requirements for protected areas, the use of pesticides and operational planning.
PEFC also expects “Chain of Custody” certification of all processing companies in order to guarantee compliance with the standard right through to the end consumer.
This method of certification enables the due diligence requirements of the certification to be met as proof of legally harvested and purchased timber.
